Outside of Class

Tutoring

I’ve tutored students ranging in age from 9 to 17 in science and math.
Below is a recommendation from one parent of a cool little guy who loves engineering.

Kung Fu

I’m a Black Belt in Northern Eagle Claw Kung Fu, and I’ve been a volunteer teacher of Kung Fu to younger students at my Kung Fu Studio.
Below is a recommendation from my Sifu (Kung Fu master).

Live Action Role Play (LARP)

I am a Herald in Whittier College’s Ancient Order of the Knights Pendragon, a LARP group that was started at Whittier College over 40 years ago, and continues to this day, now on Zoom thanks to the pandemic.
Below is a lighted foam sword I designed and built from clear PVC, USB-battery-powered LED lights,  insulating foam and some plumbing connectors.

More information about this is on my Engineering page.

Adam Wildanger Letter of Recommendation

To whom it may concern,

I am writing to you today in support of Adam Wildanger.  I am a mother and credentialed teacher who has extensive classroom experience and is currently home-schooling her teenage son. I have known Adam for 5 years.   Between 2016-2018 Adam worked weekly with my son as a one to one specialty tutor and mentor.  The areas of instruction were mathematics and physics. In math Adam introduced such topics as long division, exponents and early pre-algebra. In his physics instruction, Adam explained such concepts as tangents, mass and gravity. Adam was prepared for sessions and brought various forms of media with him to support learning including computer programs, books and building supplies. On several occasions Luke and Adam collaborated and built three dimensional models.  This included an intricate catapult and a model solar system.

Adam is a highly focused and responsible young man. He is open, communicative, punctual and honest. He was tolerant of my son’s extra active behavior. Adam is passionate about his subject matter and enthusiastic about the prospect of sharing his knowledge with others. Adam brings true joy to his work and my son reflects very fondly of their time together.  Our family would enjoy working with Adam again in the future as my child’s course load expands.

Thank you very much for your time.

Sincerely,

Judy Eisentstein
